September 3-6

Hello Kindergarten Families,

Happy Monday! I hope you've all enjoyed your Labor Day weekend. Here are a few things we have been learning and experiencing this past week:

We started learning sounds from our sound wall. We use mirrors to help our mouths form the sounds correctly. We can show you that the /m/ sound is a nasal sound, and the /t/ sound is a stop sound. We are excited to learn our sounds this year.

We have been practicing reading and writing our names. We are also learning the names of all the friends in our class.

We are learning how to properly use the supplies in our classroom. For example, iPads, math manipulatives, whiteboards, crayons, etc.

A math packet will be sent home in students’ take-home folders almost every week. They don’t need to be returned, but you are welcome to use them for extra practice to reinforce skills taught in class. Plus, they give you a chance to see what concepts we are learning in math!

This is such a great class! They have done a great job learning procedures and following directions and we’re getting ready to jump into more curriculum!
